The Kente Portage Road, located on the north shore of Weller's Bay in Lake Ontario is the oldest road in continuous use in Ontario. Some of the original houses still mark the route. This road was used extensively by trappers and First Nations tribes. The Indian trail formed an important route between the Bay of Quinte and Wellers Bay. Early records indicate that Samuel de Champlain travelled this route in 1615.
